Exploring the art of lino cutting at Bath Printmakers
Over the past three weeks, I had theopportunity to attend a lino cutting workshop at Bath Printmakers in Larkhall. It’s been an inspiring and skill-building experience, diving into this traditional printmaking technique and exploring its potential for creating stunning landscape images.
Learning the craft
Under the expert guidance of artist Anglea , I learned how to transfer designs onto linoleum, carve out intricate details, and experiment with different tools and textures. The process was so fun.
Creating landscapes
As someone with a love for nature and storytelling, I chose to focus on landscape imagery throughout the workshop. Lino cutting is a fantastic medium for capturing the textures and patterns of natural scenes, from the soft lines of rolling hills to the intricate details of tree bark and foliage.
Takeaways
This workshop has not only given me a new skill but also a renewed appreciation for the craftsmanship involved in printmaking. I’m excited to continue experimenting with lino cutting, incorporating it into future projects or workshops.
